Temporary Color For Your Hair

It is Halloween so why not have a little fun with your hair?
A funky hairstyle or color can be a cool costume all by itself.

There are really only two quick options for a temporary change in your hair fashion, one is by applying temporary Hair Spray Paint, and the other is to wear a wig.
Some things to remember when spraying your hair:

  • Spraying hair can be a messy job.  Purchasing an inexpensive cutting cape can prevent the spray from getting all over your clothing.
  • Make sure you style your hair first before spraying it with color.
  • When spraying your hair, make sure you do it in an area with a lot of ventilation. The fumes are very strong.
  • Always try and wash your hair out immediately after you are home from your event or party.  This will prevent damage to your hair caused by prolonged use.
  • Hair Spray Paint can be purchased from a ton of places.  Both Target and Wal Mart offer a variety of colors, as does any Halloween store in the area.
Consider a Wig for the night...

Simply wearing a wig can give you a whole new look.
Check out some of these wig options...

So if you still haven't decided what you are going to be for Halloween,
why not try a new look by changing your hair for the night.
New hair is better than some of the other options, don't you think?

Joico Launches Style Support For Thinning Hair

Are you having problems with thinning hair?  Believe me, you are not alone.  Statistics show that 40% of women experience hair loss by age 40, 25% of men begin balding by age 30, and 75% begin balding by age 60.

Joico has just introduced three new hair products for anyone who is experiencing hair loss problems.

Weightless Texture Thickener creates stronger hair with texture that looks and feels thicker. It actually makes hair two-and-a-half times stronger after just one use. The unique formula features acacia gum and hyacinth for healthy, long-lasting style support and bamboo extract to strengthen and protect.

Lifting Foam Volumizer provides humidity-resistant lift and volume without static or buildup. Studies show that it provides 15 times more style retention after 24 hours than other volumizing products. The formula includes hyacinth for long-lasting support; hibiscus to enhance body and fullness; bamboo extract to strengthen and protect hair and quinoa to restore softness and moisture.

All-Day Dry Hold Finisher is a quick-drying, workable spray that offers medium-to-firm hold as it resists humidity and protects hair from environmental damage. Hair stays in place for up to 24 hours, even in high humidity. Acacia gum and hyacinth offer long-wear; hibiscus adds body, fullness and strength and bamboo extract protects as it strengthens.

When you focus on the right cut, the right finishing techniques and the right styling formulas, with the help of your professional stylist, you can transform your hair type into a style you will love.

Hair Tip: How To Blow Dry Hair Straight

Hair Tip of the Day:
How to blow dry hair straight- Instead of permanently straightening your hair, which is very damaging to your hair, why not learn to properly blow dry it.  With the proper tools, the correct hair product, and a bit of practice you can achieve the look you want with your hair.

What will you need?
  • A hairdryer
  • A large round brush with a metal core, make sure your hair can wrap around the brush once.  The size of the brush will depend on the length of your hair.
  • A large paddle brush for final smoothing.
  • Clips to keep hair out of the way, large flat ones are the best choice.
  • Styling products that protect your hair from moisture and hold the style.  They also protect your hair from the heat damage of the blow dryer.
  • Gloss or serum to smooth over the hair to remove the frizz and finish off the look.

Next
  • Wash your hair.
  • Place your styling product in your wet hair, make sure it is covered from the roots to the tips of your hair.
  • Pin your hair up and only take out small sections at a time to blow dry.  Start with the underneath  and back sections.
  • Hold the dryer in one hand and a styling brush in the other.
  • Place the brush underneath the first section of hair and position it at the roots.
  • Keep tension on the hair being careful not to tug too hard and move the brush down towards the tips of your hair, while direction the air flow down the hair, following the movement of the brush.
  • Wind hair completely up the brush, focusing on creating lift at the roots, gently blast hair with the hair dryer until it is dry.
  • Curl the brush under, or flip it up at the ends to achieve a slight wave.
  • After the bottom sections of your hair are dry, move on to the top sections in a layering manner.
  • Finish with a light, flexible hairspray.

Remember… practice makes perfect!

The best way to have a great end product is to have a good start.
A good hair cut is that good start you need.
Belleza Family Hair Salon in Murrieta can make sure you start with a good cut!

Positively Pink

Just a reminder that we are still thinking pink
 at Belleza Family Hair Salon.

Did you know...

Wearing ribbons as a sign of awareness began during the Iranian hostage crisis in 1979.  The ribbons were yellow. The pink ribbon, which has become the symbol for Breast Cancer Awareness was first used in the 1990's, when wearing ribbons first started as a growing trend.  The Susan G. Komen Foundation handed out pink ribbons to recognize breast cancer survivors at the Komen New York City Race For The Cure in 1991. The pink ribbon was chosen because pink is the color for health, and represents femininity.

The pink ribbon represents the strength of women around the world who have battled breast cancer as a show of solidarity in helping to find a cure for the disease.  It is also worn to encourage yearly breast exams for early detection.

Can You Hear Me Now?

Are you listening?

Did you know that:
  •  Every 13 minutes a woman dies of breast cancer in the United States, and many of us know someone who has, is, or will be affected.
  • One in eight women will at some point in their lives receive a positive breast cancer diagnosis.
  • Lung cancer is the number one cause of cancer deaths in women; breast cancer is number two.

So...what can you do?

Prevention is the best way to combat this deadly disease.  Making changes in your life may help reduce your risk of breast cancer.

  1.  Ask your doctor about breast cancer screening.
  2.  Become familiar with your breasts through breast self-exams.
  3.  Don't drink alcohol.
  4.  Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day.
  5.  Maintain a healthy weight.

Open those cute little ears!

Keep A Breast

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we thought you might like to learn about an organization that tries to help eradicate breast cancer by exposing young people to methods of prevention, early detection and support, called Keep A Breast.  Even though October is set aside nationally for this cause Keep A Breast does this all year long.  They sponsor art events, educational programs, and fundraising efforts, to try and increase breast cancer awareness among young people so that they can make better choices and develop habits that will create a healthier environment for them in the long run.

The Keep A Breast Foundation is a non-profit organization, so that means they need to get our help.  One way to help is to join a group called Picture Healing.  Picture Healing is a FREE photo sharing website that gives you points when you upload your glamor shots girls (seriously, any photos will do!) and share them with your friends.  Those points are turned into cash donations to a charity you choose.  Keep A Breast is a great one to choose when you do that!  You can learn more about it here.

How cool is it that NEON TREES is doing a benefit concert in Las Vegas on October 27th for Picture Healing.

On a hairy noteKeira Knightley chopped off her lovely locks and is now sportin’ a BOB, just like Mandi.  Mandi, is quite the trend setter, don't you think? And just who gave Mandi that great cut?  You guessed it. Andrea!

Belleza Hair Salon cares about more than just hair.
